Marvin’s Fly’n boat

A video documentary by former club member Brent Warren.

“The late Marvin Lewis of Nederland, Colorado had a love for Howard Hughes giant flying boat aircraft the ‘Spruce Goose” He started building a twelve foot model in his restaurant. Eventually he retired to Nebraska with model unfinished. He passed away.

The Boulder, CO Aeromodelling Club brought the model back and over a year’s work, finished it in order to attempt a one day flight off a reservoir, with a bit of Marvin’s ashes and 2400 people showing up to watch. May 1999,

I saw this as a great three part story of obsessions: Mr. Hughes, Marvin’s and the club members. This documentary took three years of my life to film, edit, and try to show to the public. Attempts at film festivals failed, but ten public showings produced the audience cheers and applause desired. It was then shelved, until now, where this new cyber venue will allow it to be seen again.”
